Matthew David Hamilton

Matthew David Hamilton is a Ph.D. Candidate in Government at Georgetown University from Katy, TX. His research combines international relations theory; work in the history of ideas and of IR; and normative theorizing to both analyze world politics and rethink theories of global justice. His dissertation criticizes the centrality of self-determination in discussions of global justice and instead proposes a relational approach influenced by republican theorists like Philip Pettit and Quentin Skinner. He has also published on the history of Rise-and-Fall Theory in IR and has a forthcoming piece on republican liberty and artificial intelligence. Matthew previously earned an M.A. from Princeton Theological Seminary and maintains an interest in St. Augustine's thought. He also enjoys NBA basketball and Balcones whiskey.
